9 June 2010

It’s Myokii back again with more exciting stories about our projects.

Today’s entry’s unlike my other entries – that are all set in little ol’ sunny island Singapore.

Joanne described the whole trip as a “taxi ride to and back from Shanghai”. Why?? I am about to elaborate… Read on!

On 9 June, in the wee hours of the morning at 1am, Joanne and our trusty cameraman Derrick were on a flight bound for Shanghai, China. They received word about the overseas shoot  and they were packed and gone in about 24 hours – really short notice. Well, duty calls! They needed to catch the interviewees at the client’s place before they flew off. So, our fiesty duo flew off to Shanghai to catch the interviewees in action.

They flew off from Singapore Changi Airportat 1am and touched down in Shanghai at about 6.30am..

Try and spot our cameraman Derrick! Clue: he’s below 23…

They practically ran out of the airport without breakfast, jumped into a taxi and scooted off to the shooting location, which took about 2 hours. They reached the location early, at 8.45am. And I’m glad they at least managed to take a little breather, sit and take a sip of water, rest a bit after being their own rushing porters. Think: 2 people lugging camera equipment and their own belongings onto the plane, into the taxi, to the shooting location…….. That has got to be tiring!

They met the client at 9am and got down to work!!!

Check out Derrick at work…

Here’s our interviewee getting all ready for the shoot

2-man crew at work! Checking out how it looks on the monitor.

Finally the shoot was over at about 3.30pm. And after that without any delay, they hopped right into a taxi and headed for the airport.

Initially when they heard that they were going to Shanghai, they were uber excited and thought they might be able to catch the Shanghai World Expo. Well… they caught… a glimpse of the building from the outside when they passed it in a cab… Derrick was looking longingly at the red inverted pyramidal structure, wishing he was there….

Well although they couldn’t go in, the best thing about the 2h taxi ride to the airport was the nice cab driver! He wanted to drive them to the Expo, but time didn’t allow. He was apparently a really nice and friendly good host! What a pleasant experience amidst the rush.  :) Their flight was at 7.10pm and they finally touched down in Singapore at about 12.30am, and work continued as per normal the next day.

See what I mean by this trip was a “taxi ride to and back from Shanghai”? They literally went there and came back all within a day as if they were in Singapore.

Gee, I wonder when I’ll be able to have the thrill of going overseas for a shoot… Hmmm.. I wonder wonder wonder…
